On 25 May 2020 George Floyd’s death occurred, followed by worldwide protests. About one month later, a similar incident happened, where father-son duo Jayaraj and Fenix were brutally killed by policemen in Tamil, Nadu. Unfortunately, this incident didn’t garner much attention. Here’s all about what happened to them.

On 19 June 2020, Jayaraj and Fenix were arrested for opening their mobile shop beyond lockdown hours by Sathankulam Police ( According to the police while there’s no truth to it.) False accusations were put on them like: threatening to kill public servants. On the same night, both of them were heavily beaten. People residing even 500 meters away could hear their screams.

Fenix’s lawyer has admitted to witnessing grave wounds. Their rectums were bleeding continuously and the scars on the body revealed sexual assault. Their blood soaked clothes were sent three times to their houses for cleaning. The hospital staff have also confirmed the same information. The blood soaked batons were collected as evidence. The CCTV footage of that date is missing. Other witnesses are afraid of speaking due to police terrorism.

Their medical checkup wasn’t done before presenting before the magistrate. Their injuries needed medical attention when they were forcibly discharged from the hospital. The police certainly lied that they were medically fit. After the grant of remand, they were to Kovilpatti sub jail 100 km away from Sathankulam despite their barbarous condition. On 22 June 2020 Fenix died and subsequently on 23 June 2020 Jayaraj was declared dead at Kovilpatti Hospital. According to the police, the reasons for their death were heart failure and fever (which was proven to be false.)

Tamil singer Suchitra talked about this issue on her Instagram post after which the officials took notice of it. Five Police officers have been accused of assault and investigation is going on. But that’s not all. We all need to raise our voices on this so much that this history of police brutality stops permanently. There should be anymore George Floyds nor any Jayaraj and Fenixes.

Menโ€™s Rights: Balancing the Gender Equation

Menโ€™s Rights: Balancing the Gender Equation

We live in world where it is our right to fight for injustices we see happen to others or ourselves. We protest, we riot, we demand for change and in time, when we all come together, no one can oppress us. We create a spark through spreading information through articles like these, that inspires others to act. I, like may of you, have witnessed people being put down for nothing but their gender. If you believe in true gender equality, you must include all the variables in the equation, like the Men’s Right’s Movement, and hear the male side of the story.

RAPE, why is it normalized?

RAPE, why is it normalized?

RAPE,searches state that 91.6%of the world’s rape cases are left unreported, and this is one thing that hurts me the most, there are several reasons to why women do not report their rape,it can either be that they are ashamed, cultures, traditions and several more. If they are not going to speak up, it’s about we do! Mind you there are several types of rapes, some that have moved me quite a lot(payback rape,LGBTQ rape, custodial rape, gang rape, child rape, prison rape, serial rape, date rape). Hopefully having my poem on this site will open up a few eyes and declare victory for us women, and also establish a secure future for the kids playing hopscotch around town.
