On 25 May 2020 George Floyd’s death occurred, followed by worldwide protests. About one month later, a similar incident happened, where father-son duo Jayaraj and Fenix were brutally killed by policemen in Tamil, Nadu. Unfortunately, this incident didn’t garner much attention. Here’s all about what happened to them.

On 19 June 2020, Jayaraj and Fenix were arrested for opening their mobile shop beyond lockdown hours by Sathankulam Police ( According to the police while there’s no truth to it.) False accusations were put on them like: threatening to kill public servants. On the same night, both of them were heavily beaten. People residing even 500 meters away could hear their screams.

Fenix’s lawyer has admitted to witnessing grave wounds. Their rectums were bleeding continuously and the scars on the body revealed sexual assault. Their blood soaked clothes were sent three times to their houses for cleaning. The hospital staff have also confirmed the same information. The blood soaked batons were collected as evidence. The CCTV footage of that date is missing. Other witnesses are afraid of speaking due to police terrorism.

Their medical checkup wasn’t done before presenting before the magistrate. Their injuries needed medical attention when they were forcibly discharged from the hospital. The police certainly lied that they were medically fit. After the grant of remand, they were to Kovilpatti sub jail 100 km away from Sathankulam despite their barbarous condition. On 22 June 2020 Fenix died and subsequently on 23 June 2020 Jayaraj was declared dead at Kovilpatti Hospital. According to the police, the reasons for their death were heart failure and fever (which was proven to be false.)

Tamil singer Suchitra talked about this issue on her Instagram post after which the officials took notice of it. Five Police officers have been accused of assault and investigation is going on. But that’s not all. We all need to raise our voices on this so much that this history of police brutality stops permanently. There should be anymore George Floyds nor any Jayaraj and Fenixes.

Social evils have prevailed in our society since the very beginning but we always found a way to fight them . Through this poem i also want to motivate all those fighting for blm by showing them how we conquered the social evils in the society earlier and there efforts are worth it .

Are Nuisance Laws a Nuisance?

Are Nuisance Laws a Nuisance?

Many things that are formed with good intentions can, in a way, backfire, giving rise to other issues left unconsidered during the creation of such laws. Take, for example, nuisance laws. By way of background, nuisance laws are ordinances that are created to limit undesirable actions in a community. These โ€œundesirableโ€ actions may include music thatโ€™s too loud, dangerous vapors, and criminal activity. Now, these laws evidently seem great — they protect our citizens from dangerous or โ€œannoyingโ€ actions that may occur in our neighborhoods. In many cases, the tenants of the property in which the nuisance is occurring are usually evicted, literally clearing out the nuisance.

Fear of Change….Leads To Oppression?

Fear of Change….Leads To Oppression?

Some of you may have read one of my last articles,”What The Media Doesn’t Tell You About Black Protests.” I decided to have a new take on the article, by telling my readers, why.

Racism is a problem rooted in ancient history, but what is racism? Racism, by definition is โ€œprejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior,โ€ but the underlying cause of what racism really is, is the fear of something different than oneself. I believe that it is fear, more specifically, the fear of change that sparked the violence, we recognize as racism.
