Racism is a problem rooted in ancient history, but what is racism? Racism, by definition is “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.” What racism really is, is the fear of something different than oneself. The fear of change. People now more than ever need to realize that we are more than our skin color and where we come from.
Recently there have been protests upon protests, for black lives. But some may have us believe they are riots, riots incited by the hurt and the wronged. Some may have us believe that the murder of George Floyd was an accident, a mishap, product of a heart attack, not cold-blooded murder worthy of the first degree.
I am here to educate you with the truth. I am also here to tell you that police officers are not all brutal. Police Officers around the world rally for the black lives matter movement. Determined to prove exactly that, I am here to tell you not all protests are violent. People in Frisco, Dallas and Allen have protested peacefully while socially distancing.
Black lives matter, yes, without a doubt. The lives of countless African Americans are in danger simply because our nation is too stubborn to allow change, and for that, we should feel shame for our nation. However one thing we should never forget, is that the black lives matter is more than just number one trending on instagram and twitter. Black lives matter, is a problem in society no one should have to face, and as time goes on we should strive to no longer protest death, but to celebrate life.
As people go on protesting it is important to remember that those of us who are not black, allow those who are, the space and time to speak their minds. It is important that we allow them to remain on the front lines and forever remain behind them. We must provide the means, platforms and the voice to speak up, because at the end of the day, we get to go home and they may not.
I would just like to say that as someone with a platform, me and all those whose articles are up support this cause. We stand with you always and please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need someone to tell your story or to tell it yourself using this platform. This was more of an emotional piece, so I would like to ask those of you who have Instagram to please follow @Shaunking everyday, he provides countless real life videos of protests around the world. I hope they will give you insight to the very real world we live in.

Though the art of justice has been perfected over the many years of humanity, not everyone has been able to enjoy it as well as others. This is apparent in one of the most common forms of discrimination: a distaste for immigrants and people of color.
Did you know that certain crimes, if proveable require a certain amount of penance no negotiation? Some of them including possession of drugs and child pornography ranging from 5-40 years. You may think this is a reasonable punishment, but what if I told you that sometimes those who are convicted don’t have an opportunity to appeal in a court due to this federal law?
Former juveniles have served their time, so why keep punishing them? Former delinquents have a history of being denied jobs and proper housing even after time has been served. As a result delinquents continue to find themselves in jail well into adulthood. Recognize juveniles as people, not bad people, not a harmful object, just a person. A colleague, someone who sits next to you on the bus.
