I do not like the term
“treehugger.”
Trees symbolize death to me
instead of life.

How many more of
my brothers and sister must
wear a necklace of rope tied
to a tree for one to understand that
this is an issue?

Instead, they blame such acts on
a mental illness.
A mental disorder in which they treat
as if it is nonexistent.
As if it is nothing more than sadness
that will be cured as time passed.

Funny how our world says time heals
when we’re still trapped in 1954
leaving it to teenagers and college students
to still fix a corrupted government.

People say it was long ago,
but that was only 66 years ago!
Most people still have their grandparents
and great grandparents in their lives.

This is not a new issue.
This is the realization of the blind.
The cries of the mute.
The sounds of the deaf.
The crimes of criminals
they allowed to roam free.

The tears of colored men and women who fought
just to get a sip of water
flows within our veins.

Their apologies
“I am sorry I let you down.”
now moves us to do better for
future generations to come!

We will succeed where many failed
for that is our calling.
A generation of anxious children
now curling their knuckles.

Iron-blooded they stand
before adults armed with tear gas
and weapons.

Iron-willed they chant peacefully;
voices lifting like angels
of gospels.

Beauty lies within colors.
Beauty lies within tearful eyes
and sore throats.
Beauty lies within change.

Each paragraph of this poem tells us about the problems of the society and how we fought them . We all made mistakes and at some point some of us lost our humanity but we always got its back before our dark side took over our bright side completely. Social evils have prevailed in our society since the very beginning but we always found a way to fight them . Through this poem i also want to motivate all those fighting for blm by showing them how we conquered the social evils in the society earlier and there efforts are worth it .

Are Nuisance Laws a Nuisance?

Are Nuisance Laws a Nuisance?

Many things that are formed with good intentions can, in a way, backfire, giving rise to other issues left unconsidered during the creation of such laws. Take, for example, nuisance laws. By way of background, nuisance laws are ordinances that are created to limit undesirable actions in a community. These “undesirable” actions may include music that’s too loud, dangerous vapors, and criminal activity. Now, these laws evidently seem great — they protect our citizens from dangerous or “annoying” actions that may occur in our neighborhoods. In many cases, the tenants of the property in which the nuisance is occurring are usually evicted, literally clearing out the nuisance.

Fear of Change….Leads To Oppression?

Fear of Change….Leads To Oppression?

Some of you may have read one of my last articles,”What The Media Doesn’t Tell You About Black Protests.” I decided to have a new take on the article, by telling my readers, why.

Racism is a problem rooted in ancient history, but what is racism? Racism, by definition is “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior,” but the underlying cause of what racism really is, is the fear of something different than oneself. I believe that it is fear, more specifically, the fear of change that sparked the violence, we recognize as racism.
